Firefighters battling bushfire in Whangaroa

Fire-fighters are at the scene of a Whangaroa bushfire in the Far North.

Shift manager Lauren Sika said crews were first called just before 12.30pm.

She said the blaze was now under control, but it was around 60m by 100m in size, on steep terrain.

There are currently four appliances, a support vehicle, and a helicopter at the scene.

Another support vehicle is on the way.
