Two men have been arrested and charged with the murder of a man in Helensville last month.

Police on Tuesday named the victim as Samuel Curle, 36, of Auckland.

Earlier in the day, they arrested two men after searching properties in Northland and Auckland.

Curle was found with serious injuries on the Kaipara Coast Highway just after midnight on 6 November, 2023.

He died three weeks later.

“Police continue to provide support to his family at this difficult time,” Acting Detective Inspector Tim Williams said.

The two arrested men both had links to the Head Hunters gang, and police would be opposing bail during their court appearances.

“A 31-year-old male is due to appear in the Whangārei District Court today, while a 42-year-old male is due to appear in the Waitākere District Court today.”

Officers were still trying to find out the exact circumstances surrounding Curle’s death, Williams said.

“Police cannot rule out further arrests or charges as our enquiries continue.”

He appealed for more information from the public which could be provided via the 105 phone service or online.

The reference file number is 231106/4405. Information can also be provided anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
