A crash has closed a crucial Northland road, the main alternative route to State Highway One, while slips on the Brynderwyns are fixed.

It is the second time this month part of Cove Road winding through Waipu and Langs Beach has been closed.

Last week, the same road partly closed after a serious crash that injured seven people, four of them children.

Police said there have been no injuries today, after a truck crashed and blocked both lanes.

The crash was reported just before 11.30am on Wednesday.

Cove Road is closed between Tuaraki and Bream Tail roads.

Diversions are in place and drivers are advised to expect significant delays.

Motorists are advised to use the western State Highway One alternative route via Paparoa Oakleigh Road.
