Kiwi musician Tiki Taane has been announced as the headline act for the Bay of Islands’ food, wine and beer festival in October.

The It! Festival has been a popular fixture on the Northland events calendar for more than a decade, kicking off summer with great food, drinks and music.

The event is returning to Paihia Village Green on October 7, with Taane’s “one-man band” experience as the headline act.

Taane is one of Aotearoa’s most multi award-winning, chart-topping artists, known for his genre-bending, high energy performances and live looping.

His 2021 collaboration with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra has recently been released as a concert documentary and invited to multiple international film festivals.

Other musicians to perform include Latin influenced soul-funk bank Latinaotearoa, premier Kiwi cover band Hands Off! and French Eurogroove maestro DJ VanDeBelle.

Tiki Taane, Big Sima, and Tali are collaborating with the CSO in Christchurch.

But music will not be the only attraction for the festival, which showcases Northland’s artisan food producers, craft beer makers, spirits producers and vineyards.

A new Wine and Cocktail Pavilion will allow guests to meet the makers while sampling top local drinks, and the Beer Garden will return with brews from PHAT House Brewing Co, McLeod’s Brewery and Bay of Islands Brewing Company.

Foodies can expect a lot of diversity, from hangi to Hungarian langosh, mussel fritters to paua bombs, plus plenty of vegetarian and vegan delights.

Tickets are available from Eventfinda and cost $65 plus booking fee, with a limited number of earlybird tickets available now for $55 plus booking fee.
