Poor weather off Northland’s west coast continues to hamper a search for a diver now missing for six days.

The man was last seen at Tauroa Point, near Ahipara, on 23 December, with friends and whānau scouring the shoreline every day since then.

Coastguard spokeswoman Kimberley Waters said adverse weather and low visibility had significantly affected the search operation.

She said a Northland Air Patrol plane managed to carry out an aerial search yesterday but did not find the missing diver.

Waters said Coastguard would continue to support the police search operation over the next few days.
