Three people linked to gangs have been arrested and cash and ammunition seized during a police operation in Kaikohe in Northland.
Police executed a search warrant at a property yesterday during which six rounds of ammunition and $10,000 in cash were recovered.
A 30-year-old man, a 32-year-old man and a woman, 52, have been charged with unlawful possession of ammunition and are due to appear in the Kaikohe District Court.
Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Dalzell from the Northland CIB said the operation was carried out as part of an ongoing focus on gang activity in the Kaikohe and mid-North areas.
“Police cannot rule out further charges being laid,” Dalzell said.
“We welcome information from anyone who has concerns about organised crime or the illegal possession of firearms in their community.”
