Emergency services have rushed to the scene of a “well involved truck fire” on State Highway 1, near Hūkerenui in Northland.
The incident, which was reported to Fire and Emergency at 6.52am, closed a section of SH1 near Crows Nest Rd in both directions for almost two hours.
Three fire trucks and two support vehicles were still on the scene trying to tackle the blaze at 8am, a Fire and Emergency spokesperson said.
By 8.30am both directions had been re-opened under traffic management, Waka Kotahi said.
According to police, no injuries have been reported.
While diversions are in place, drivers are advised to expect delays and avoid the area where possible.
