Five fire trucks were sent to the burning house in Peria.
A Saturday morning house fire in the Far North is being treated as suspicious.
Firefighters were called to the blaze in Peria about 7am, and found the single-storey building fire well involved when they arrived at the scene, Fire and Emergency NZ (FENZ) said.
The fire was extinguished and was being treated as suspicious, with a fire investigator attending the incident.
Five fire trucks, from Mangonui, Kaitaia and Karikari, were sent to the blaze.
