State Highway 1 through the Brynderwyn Hills, between Kaiwaka and Waipū, has been closed after heavy rain caused some slips onto the road.
There was a detour in place for cars and other light vehicles detour via Nova Scotia Drive, Cove Road, Garbolino Road, and Kaiwaka-Mangawhai Road.
In a statement, NZTA said because it was a “significant slip”, the detour was not suitable for trucks; instead, they needed to detour via State Highway 12 and SH14.
“The road is fully closed, and we don’t yet have a time frame for reopening the road.
