The Independent Police Conduct Authority confirmed it oversaw a police investigation into a complaint about the officer.
It was alleged the officer had acted “inappropriately” towards a person who was considering a career in police.

“The officer sent inappropriate images, videos and text messages to the potential recruit, and crossed the professional boundary that exists between a police officer and a potential recruit,” the authority said.
Police concluded the officer’s actions had been inappropriate and they breached police policies and the code of conduct.
Superintendent Tony Hill, Northland District Commander, said as soon as police became aware of the matter an investigation began.
“This matter was incredibly disappointing and showed totally unprofessional behaviour towards a person considering a career with police,” Hill said.
The officer involved resigned from the police force so no employment action was taken against them, the IPCA noted.
“The authority agrees with the outcome of the police investigation.”
