A person has died in a crash in the Northland township of Poroti.

The crash, between a car and a motorbike, occurred about 3.20pm Sunday on State Highway 15, at the intersection of Kokopu Road.

“Sadly, one person died at the scene,” police said in a statement.

“No other injuries are reported.”

The serious crash unit was investigating and the road was closed.

Diversions were in place, with drivers asked to avoid the area and expect delays.
