A person has died after a serious crash in Northland this afternoon.

The single vehicle crash on Mangakahia Road in Tītoki was reported to police at about 12.20pm.

A person was critically injured and died at the scene, said police.

Police said the Serious Crash Unit was in attendance and enquiries into the circumstances of the crash were ongoing.

A section of Mangakahia Road is closed due to the crash.

Police said diversions were in place and motorists were advised to expect delays while the scene was cleared.
