A 14-year-old girl who went missing from her home in the Far North town of Kaitāia has been found safe and well.

Police issued an appeal for information about Amelia James’ whereabouts on Sunday.

Police said she was new to the area and also had family in Ashburton.

On Wednesday, police confirmed the 14-year-old had been safe and well.

Police thanked the public for their help.
