Police want members of the public to send them photos or video of a serious assault that took place in Whangārei on Sunday.

The incident took place on Water Street about 2.45am.

Whangārei police have launched an online portal as part of its investigation into the assault and images and video can be uploaded.

The victim remains in Auckland Hospital in a critical but stable condition.

Anyone with information about the incident was asked to contact police on 105 or online using the reference 230226/5741.
