Police have launched an investigation into a fatal crash in Kaitaia involving a vehicle and a person on March 31.

Emergency services rushed to Wireless Rd, Kaitaia, at about 11.45pm on Friday.

“One person was taken to hospital in critical condition, however sadly died in hospital as a result of their injuries,” the police spokesperson said.

Police are trying to piece together the events that lead to the crash, and are asking the public for their help.

“We are asking anyone who was in the area between 11.30pm and 12am to please get in touch,” the spokesperson said.

Police have asked anyone who may have dash cam or CCTV footage of the crash to contact police via 105 or online, referencing file number 230401/3048.
