Former freestyle motocross champ Trent Garton is on a new track these days developing the family farm.

He and his wife Tiki are proud owners of Kainamu in the Oruru Valley in Northland and are coming to the end of their first farming year.

The 135ha of rolling hills and fertile river flats has been farmed by the Garton family since 1878.

The first 12 months have meant a lot of change for the young couple, hoping to fulfill a dream of looking after the farm for the next generation.
