Entirely avoidable, this is the conclusion of a report into a collapsed pylon that cut power to thousands of Northland businesses causing economic losses of up to 80 million dollars. The much anticipated Electricty Authority report, was ordered by the Energy Minister in the wake of the incident. It also found that the grid operator Transpower had been warned contractor maintenance crews needed more training but it did nothing.
