Police have found the car linked to a shooting in Whangārei, which damaged an elderly woman’s house leaving her distressed.

They were called to the Collingwood Street property after the house was shot at in the early hours of Saturday morning – no one was injured.

Detective Sergeant Paul Overton said the car used in the shooting was a black Nissan Pathfinder SUV.

They were appealing to anyone who saw it in the days before the incident to get in contact.

“If you saw this vehicle or have information about any of its occupants in recent days, we need to hear from you.

“This was a terrifying incident for the victim and we are continuing to provide support to her,” he said.

“We are asking anyone who may know anything in relation to this to please come forward. Any piece of information, no matter how small, could assist us in locating those responsible.”

The registration is EPW244.

Police were also asking any drivers who were in the area on Saturday night to check their dashcam footage.
